New Generation Pontiac G6

The fourth engine choice is not one that many people select simply because it offers a very small boost in power. The 2010 Pontiac 3.9 Liter V6 engine only offers 222 horse power, but the fuel economy is much worse than the smaller 3.5 Liter V6 and the performance difference is virtually impossible to detect.

Highlighting the exterior styling changes is a redesigned front fascia, featuring an integrated lower air dam and an aggressive chrome treatment of Pontiac’s signature twin-port grille, as well as a twin air scoop hood. Around back, the new rear fascia shows off the dual chrome-tipped exhaust and unique “hammerhead” spoiler. Side rocker panels, 19-inch wheels, vented cross-drilled brake rotors, and a 25-mm reduction in suspension height finish off the GXP’s ground-hugging appearance.

The smaller six cylinder motor is the 2010 Pontiac 3.5 Liter V6 engine that boasts a strong 219 horse power and 219 pound feet of torque. The estimated gas mileage is about 22 miles per gallon on the highway and 15 miles per gallon in the city.

G6 GXP Street edition models are easily identified by their new front fascia, which features new fog lamps and braided polished stainless steel upper and outboard lower grille inserts with chrome surrounds on the upper grille sections leading to a revised hood with scoops. New body side rocker moldings lead to a redesigned rear fascia with two exhaust openings. Chrome, dual-wall tips exit through the openings. A rear spoiler also is part of the GXP package, but is specific to either the coupe or sedan; the coupe model receives a larger, more aggressive “hammerhead” spoiler. GXP-specific 18-inch wheels are also standard in the Street edition package.
